Charlie day 13: Sunday

This morning we got up and took Charlie to visit a lady who works at the animal shelter where he came from. She lives a few blocks from us. We wanted her to see his progress. She was really happy to see him and how much of a personality he has. She fed him some cooked chicken :) He pooped on the way home!! Then we took showers and hung around trying to stay cool for a few hours. We went to Van Cortlandt Park to have a picnic. Mark went into a bodega to buy lunchmeat and cheese to make sandwiches and I stayed outside with Charlie. We brought a stake to attach his leash to so we didn't have to hold it and Mark brought a collapsible silicone water dish for him, which Charlie drank from! We were there for a few hours, laying on the blanket while Charlie laid in the grass and loved every minute of it. We used the Gentle Lead on him. It loops over his nose, gathers under his throat and clasps behind his head. The leash attaches to a d-ring under his throat. It's for correcting their pulling. It gets their attention when they're walking too far ahead, which he's been starting to do. He tried to get it off a few times but was otherwise very happy and accepting of it! After a nice walk home in the sprinkling rain, he pooped again! We laid on the floor with him and took our first family portrait. By the time I got my camera and laid back down, he had gotten up, so I captured what I could. At least he's in the photo (please see below). Mark is a little put off because Charlie doesn't wag his tail for him as much as he wags it for me, but he'll come around.
