He doesn't always eat it all up right away (usually because he's too preoccupied with what I'm doing), so we mix in a little wet food with the dry kibble. We've switched wet food a few times, getting whatever has the best ingredients and sounds the most delicious.
He also loves eating ice and frozen or fresh veggies and fruits. We rarely feed him table scraps. Rarely being they key word here, and meaning less than twice a month. And we never feed him from the table. He's not a beggar anyway, so we don't really have to worry about him bothering us while we are eating. He usually sleeps while we're eating.
He's not incredibly adept at snatching food off the floor as soon as we drop it, so that makes it easier for us to keep him out of the way while we're preparing a meal and eating. He hasn't caught on to the toe point; he's not very intuitive... It'll come with practice.
For treats, we like to feed him Charlee Bear brand treats from Trader Joe's sometimes. We always try to keep Trader Joe's Beef Liver Begging Treats for Dogs on hand. Charlie loves them. I wish the liver treats were sold in larger quantities, because we seem to use them up pretty quickly.
In case you're wondering, here is a list of foods dogs should never eat:

This list is taken directly from Pets.WebMD. They have a neat slideshow explaining each item in more detail (along with a cute doggie photo).
And here is a list of "20 Pet Friendly People Foods Safe for Dogs" from Best Bully Sticks:
- apples
- brewers yeast
- cottage cheese
- eggs (cooked)
- flax seed
- green beans
- lean meat
- liver
- oatmeal

- peanut butter
- peas
- pineapple
- popcorn
- pumpkin
- salmon
- squash

- yogurt
If you compare the things on the "good for" and "bad for" list some things seem to contradict (i.e. dairy bad/yogurt and cottage cheese good) but I think that means you just have to be very careful what you're giving your pup. Like, plain yogurt or cottage cheese with pineapple would be an excellent snack! Make some for yourself while you're at it!
